biennale giardini

I spent a good portion of my first full day in Venice at the Biennale of Architecture. We decided to go to the Giardini first which is the site of all the country pavilions. It was kind of hazy that afternoon which made the atmosphere really cool. I took a lot of digital photos in the actual exhibition pavilions but I wanted to use my Voigtlander to capture some of the more experiential qualities of the place. The Scandinavian/Nordic pavilion [photos 2 and 3] was my absolute favourite, and not really for the exhibition inside but the building itself. It has 3 full grown trees growing out the middle and the composition of the building was really amazing. The next two are of the Venezuelan pavilion [it wasn’t actually open but I liked the exterior]. There were lots of interesting exhibitions and I have more photos of them that I will share soon.

I’ve been working hard at school this week [and it’s only Tuesday]. I’m really looking forward to the Beach House/Caribou concert on Friday and some seasonal festivities on Saturday! Also I’m extremely jealous of all the snow that Vancouver [and the rest of the PNW] is getting although Thurs/Fri/Sat here calls for snow/rain.. I’m hoping for snow!

Where Am I?
