In Germany I visited the Fagus Werk, a shoe last factory that was a pretty important building at the beginning of the modern movement. It was constructed between 1911-1925 and was one of Walter Gropius’ first major projects [although he mainly just worked on the facade design]. Anyways, for an architecture nerd like me it was pretty cool to see and they had a super comprehensive exhibition as well. There were lots of examples of different shoe lasts, shoes from throughout history and historical images and design drawings.
I got 2 of my London rolls developed today.. exciting! I’ll try an make a selection of images to post soon when I have a bit more time.
