It’s been a long time since I’ve posted anything here.. I blame it on work and bad weather for photography. These are some photos from Dresden, part of my vacation in Germany this past summer. Some big changes coming my way.. my time here in the Netherlands is finally coming to an end it seems. My internship is almost up and after that it looks like I’ll be heading back to Canada and see where things take me from there! I’m both excited and really anxious about the move. I’m really used to life here now so I think it will be a bit strange being back home at first but there are definitely some things I’ve missed since I’ve been living here. Anyways, I want to try to make the most of my last few months here so I will try to take as many photos as possible. Hope to share more soon.

This summer my family came to visit me for my graduation and after we went on a 2.5 week trip to Germany. We spent the first few days in Berlin, then traveled south to Saxony [Freistaat Sachsen] and spent almost a week there before returning to Berlin. These photos were taken at the Bastei, near Kurort Rathen. The landscape here reminded me of one of my favourite paintings, Der Wanderer über dem Nebelmeer by the Romantic period painter Caspar David Friedrich. It was really beautiful up there.. I realized that since I moved to the Netherlands I find myself missing the mountains a lot. Overall the trip was great, plus I got some much needed German practice in. More photos to come soon!

Again, it’s been forever.. haha. I decided just to crop the photos from Berlin instead of rescanning them since I wasn’t happy with the results last time I used the school’s scanner.. I think these look alright. But argh, now I’m so far behind with developing my photos.. I just got back from Venice just over a week ago and took lots there as well. Venice is truly amazing and I had a really great time! Will post more about it in the future but for now here are some pictures from Berlin back in July during a walk through Friedrichshain. I can’t wait to go back to that city.

It’s been forever since I’ve posted here.. but I’ve still be taking lots of photos.. I’m just terribly behind with sharing and developing them. I was going to make a post this morning when I realized all the photos that were scanned on to the last CD I got were cropped incorrectly so I think I’ll scan them myself before sharing them.. might be a few days though. Here’s a little teaser from my Berlin trip. Anyways, I’ve been back to Vancouver for a month to visit and work and now I’m back in NL on the job hunt. Hope the fall has been treating you well!
2011 [part II]

Second half of my “year in review.” I’m back in Delft now after a pretty brutal day of flying, delays, turbulence and multiple landing attempts. Glad to be on the ground for a while. I love to travel but flying is not my favourite… was just reminded of that fact yesterday.
[1] made it back to Vancouver and spent a day downtown with my mom and sister [2] nothing beats driving on the Sea to Sky Highway after a great weekend camping [3] did a West Coast road trip with my family and stopped at Deception Pass [4] we spent a few days at Cannon Beach in Oregon, watching the fog roll in and out [5] and exploring the beach a bit [6] then it was off to Portland.. it was great, and pretty close to Vancouver.. will have to visit more often [7] my mom and I made a trip to Salt on my last full day in Vancouver [8] my sister came back to NL with me and we made a trip to London [9] back in NL we spent a day biking in the Hoge Veluwe Park and it was stunning [10] tired of lame/overpriced sushi in Delft we made our own [11] I went to Hong Kong with my studio and it was a sensory overload.. loved it! [12] on our last day we went to Tai O, a fishing village, which was an amazing contrast to the city.
Will share more photos from Tai O soon.. they turned out to be some of my favourite from the trip. Hope everyone is enjoying 2012 so far.

Going for afternoon tea in London was one of my favourite parts of the trip. We also got to see the changing of the guards [before getting caught in a pretty awful downpour] and I was able to have some Elderflower juice [one of my favourite drinks, which I recently found here in Delft!].
I’m sorry I don’t have more recent photos to share here… I’ve been so busy with school and other stuff that I haven’t really had much time. Hong Kong is coming up in two weeks now too, and I’m sure there will be lots to share from that trip. Hope everyone has been having a nice October so far!
borough revisited

Borough Market was one of those things I just had to do again while I was in London. Unfortunately, the grilled cheese man was nowhere to be found but I ended up finding some other delicious things for lunch there. My sister really loved it too.
I’m super excited for this evening, we’re having a big get together with a bunch of my Canadian friends here for a Thanksgiving dinner.. I think it’s going to be great!

When my sister and I were in London we made sure to take a walk around Tower Bridge and the Tower of London, things I missed out on during my first visit. It wasn’t the most spectacular day but aside from getting caught in sporadic downpours we had a good time.
I have lots to do in the coming weeks.. including getting things sorted for our studio’s trip to Hong Kong which is coming up in 27 days. We have a ton of research and things to prepare before we leave so everyone is pretty occupied with work.. doesn’t leave much time for planning but I’m sure everything will work out.
I can’t believe it’s October already.. with the inconsistent weather here the trees don’t know how to behave. Some are almost bare but others still look like it’s the middle of summer. Oh well, happy October!
hoge veluwe [part 2]

A few more photos from the Hoge Veluwe [just leaned how to pronounce it properly]. While we were biking we came across this weird clearing with a bunch of bright green moss and deer hoof prints in it. The whole time we were there I was hoping to spot some deer.. but unfortunately not this time…the tracks were as close as we got.
It was 24 [!!] degrees here yesterday and today feels about the same. I went to dim sum in Rotterdam with Erica, Robert and Eric for lunch and now we are all sufficiently stuffed. Now I’m thinking I should get out and enjoy the weather a bit more before tackling homework and reading.. better enjoy it while it lasts!
