on the street in paris

Most of these photos were taken in the St. Germain area of Paris.. one of my favourite neighbourhoods for walking around in. Paris is a very walkable city.. especially when the weather was as nice as it was a few weeks ago. It was great to browse the shops in the area and of course I had to stop at Ladurée [I did twice while we were in Paris actually..haha]. I took a picture almost exactly like the fourth photo last time I was in Paris.. interesting to see how small things have changed.
Feeling a bit better now about the state of things here in NL.. we had a bit of a studio crisis as our P4 presentation date was moved a week earlier than we expected, but after a bit of pressure we’ve convinced our tutor to move it back.. so we’ve actually gained a much needed extra 2 weeks. Still things are going to be busy.. I’m trying to work on job applications and my online portfolio/website on top of studio work. At least I’ll feel comfortable devoting a day or two to that this weekend now that we know we’ve got some extra time.
Anyways, hope you’re enjoying spring!
different but familiar

I’ve been back in Delft for almost two weeks now but Hong Kong is still on my mind. The best way I end up describing it to people is “different but familiar”. There was something about Hong Kong that made me feel sort of comfortable, but at the same time there were always so many new and different experiences and things to see to keep it exciting. These photos were taken close to my site in Sheung Wan and at the Graham Street Market in Central. I was amazed to see the printer [in photo 3] still using a very old style printing press.. really fascinating to watch.
I haven’t posted in a while because I’ve been super busy since I’ve been back, but now that I finally have some film developed I’ll have more to share. Hope everyone is enjoying the last few weeks of November!

There are just a few of the photos I took on my first full 24 hours in Hong Kong. I have lots [really lots] more to share, including some film photos once I get around to developing them, which will hopefully be soon. This city is amazing and every day I’m discovering more and more reasons to come back. I’ve also been able to get to know my studio mates better which has made the experience all the more enjoyable.
I’m looking forward to crossing a few more things off my list during my last weekend here, then it’s back to NL late Monday night. Hope you all are having an amazing autumn!

I took these photos in Portland on our first afternoon there. We walked around the city centre and checked out the Saturday Market and the infamous Powell’s Books [amazing!]. I was pretty overwhelmed by that place.. the architecture and design section alone was huge!
It’s been a while but I’ve been super busy getting ready to head back to Europe, getting things sorted back here in Delft and doing a bit of traveling with my sister. I have a few days now to rest and hopefully accomplish some of the things I need to get done before school starts again in a week. Hope everyone is enjoying the last few weeks of August!

I had a really good time in Portland just over a week ago. I was able to see a lot of things that were on my list and the weather was amazing.. great for walking around and exploring the city.
I’m really going to try to make the most my last week here in Vancouver, there are still a few things I need to cross off my summer “to-do” list. Hope you all have a nice weekend!

We headed back to Camden Market to pay a visit to the Chin Chin Laboratorists, a liquid nitrogen ice cream parlour. The place was pretty cute and it was fun to watch our ice cream being created. Erica and I shared vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce and honeycomb.. mmmm.
I wish I had more time in London to explore the market more but I guess I’ll have to save it for the next time I’m back there. I had quite a nice weekend, it was 23 degrees [!!!] on Saturday and I went to a BBQ with a few friends which was pretty much the perfect way to spend an afternoon. I’m looking forward to more afternoons like that as it gets closer to summer. I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend as well!

Our second day by walking around a bit in central London before going to a few sights [I'll post pictures of them soon].
It was kind of a grey and rainy day but there was still lots to see and tons of people around. Reminded me a bit of Vancouver weather ..
There’s another one of those weird double-exposed images in this roll but it’s kind of a nice effect I think.
I have a lot of work to do today so I’m keeping this one short. The weather today back in NL is the complete opposite of these photos.. no clouds in sight!

I made a quick 3 day trip to Germany this past weekend and spent part of Friday afternoon in Hannover. I always like exploring places I’ve never been before but although it was nice walking around it was bitterly cold and kept threatening to snow. Luckily it didn’t snow but it was pretty chilly all weekend. I had been wanting to go to Germany for a while and it was the perfect opportunity to practice speaking the language a bit [haven't really much since I spent two weeks there in the summer of 2009] and visit a few new places.
I’ll post more from my short adventure to Germany but probably not until I get back from London next week. Erica, Eric and I are leaving tomorrow morning so I’d better finish up with packing and getting organized. Hope everyone had a nice weekend!
Note: I don’t know what’s up with my blog lately but it’s been switching photos around on me. Yesterday everything looked fine but this morning a picture of Scheveningen showed up in this post, but the actual photo of Hannover is in the post when I look to edit it. So bizarre… has anyone else had this issue?

I love wandering around in Amsterdam because there are so many things to look at. These are a few of the more colourful photos I took around the city last Wednesday.
It’s super windy here today.. 60-70 km/hour winds. I’ve been taking shelter inside for most of the day but I should head out to pick up some groceries soon. The french bakery beside the apartment opened up today.. going to give it a try tomorrow
Happy Friday!
