 Happy Koninginnedag to all the Dutchies out there! These are some photos from Queen’s Day last year around Delft. Unfortunately with the P4 deadline looming I won’t get a chance to go to Amsterdam like I wanted.. but oh well. Plenty chance to celebrate once the presentation is finished..hopefully. on the street in paris

 Most of these photos were taken in the St. Germain area of Paris.. one of my favourite neighbourhoods for walking around in. Paris is a very walkable city.. especially when the weather was as nice as it was a few weeks ago. It was great to browse the shops in the area and of course I had to stop at Ladurée [I did twice while we were in Paris actually..haha]. I took a picture almost exactly like the fourth photo last time I was in Paris.. interesting to see how small things have changed.

Feeling a bit better now about the state of things here in NL.. we had a bit of a studio crisis as our P4 presentation date was moved a week earlier than we expected, but after a bit of pressure we’ve convinced our tutor to move it back.. so we’ve actually gained a much needed extra 2 weeks. Still things are going to be busy.. I’m trying to work on job applications and my online portfolio/website on top of studio work. At least I’ll feel comfortable devoting a day or two to that this weekend now that we know we’ve got some extra time.

le louvre

The Louvre was spectacular as always. Despite having visited it several times before, I always enjoy coming back. Although it does seem every time I visit the museum it’s busier than ever. We saw a lot of the ‘must sees’ but it was a pretty short visit in the end since we had a lot on our list for that day. The last picture is kind of blurry but I liked the effect of it better than it’s non-blurry counterpart.. sums up the atmosphere outside the Louvre more fittingly.. ordered yet slightly chaotic.

Hoping it will warm up a bit here over the weekend.. I’ve been longing to have a picnic outside but it’s hard to tell if the weather will hold out long enough these days. I had put my winter coat away but I found myself wearing it a few times in the last week.. come on spring! More photos soon

bonjour

Our trip to Paris was great, although a little short. We decided taking the train was the best option since you can get it direct from Rotterdam which is definitely more convenient and relaxing than flying [for me at least]. Although we were only there Wednesday-Saturday early afternoon we managed to see and do a lot.. including finding reasonably-priced and good quality sushi. Japanese food is pretty much my favourite and here in the Netherlands it’s usually super overpriced and underwhelming  [compared to what I'm used to in Vancouver at least], so I’m always super excited to have sushi when I travel. More photos to come.. these are just a few street shots taken on the first afternoon there. Couldn’t have asked for better weather!

greens

Not much of this around here anymore. Although I did bike to the Delftse Hout [big park nearby] on Friday and was rather disappointed by the lack of fall-time colours. I was expecting bright oranges and golds but instead I was confronted with lots of brown.. not exactly the colourful fall atmosphere I was hoping for. Anyways, these bright greens from spring time here are quite nice too. I’m sure before I know it, it will be starting to get green again here.

summer in spring

 One of the rolls I got developed was from spring time back in Delft. We had wonderfully summery weather for a few weeks in April… that combined with a few long weekends and exam period break meant lots of trips to the Delftse Hout, a big park and lake just a short bike ride out of the centre.

I wish the weather in Vancouver was a bit more like this.. a bit too grey today for me. I was able to catch up with some good friends this week and I’m really looking forward to camping this weekend. I’ll be sure to bring my camera along

water world

 I finally made it back to NL yesterday after the fight was delayed for just about 2 hours. It’s like Berlin didn’t want me to leave [I didn't want to leave either]. It was a great weekend getaway and I hope I can go back sometime soon. There’s just too much to see. Pictures will have to wait a bit.. I took a few rolls in today to get developed but they won’t be ready until Saturday. I’m going to try a few places in The Hague for the remainder on Friday when I have a bit of free time.

I’m looking forward to sharing them but for now some photos from Amsterdam a few weeks ago. Flying over Germany and back to the Netherlands really made me realize what a watery place this country is! Hope you all had a nice weekend.

in the sun

 I spent the afternoon in Amsterdam two weekends ago and it was so nice out. Lots of people were out cruising the canals on boats.. I’m going to make sure I rent one with friends sometime!

Not much more to say right now.. have a bit of work to do for school tomorrow so I should get to it. BUT I am super excited that I’ll be heading back to Vancouver on June 19!!! I’m so happy that I’ll get to spend two months back on the west coast before the craziness starts again. And my sister will be visiting for the last two weeks of August… I predict this will be a great summer. For now it’s back to work… and boy, is it ever Tuesday.

london friday

It’s Friday! During our Friday in London I:

1. checked out some of the shops on Carnaby Street 2. visited the amazing Liberty 3. spent time longingly browsing their amazing [and amazingly expensive] scarf department 4. enjoyed a delicious Dim Sum lunch with Eric and Erica 5. noticed some repetition 6. and beautiful tiled doorsteps 7. peeked down some narrow alleys 8. noticed the first signs of spring 9. walked to Regent’s Park 10. found more hints of spring and warmer weather to come

I got a haircut this morning.. as for the rest of the day I have a report to work on but not too much else. Looking forward to spending some time outside this weekend now that I have some free time!

sunday at home

I spent the day today at home relaxing and helping my mom outside [and taking a few pictures.. with my digital camera this time]. It was really nice spending some time in the yard, I’m going to miss it for sure when I leave for school in August. And I’m glad I got outside today because I think the rain is going to return by tomorrow.
