five/twenty five

 I turned 25 today.. which feels really weird. I think I feel like this every year, but I don’t really feel like I should be this age yet. In some ways, this Jens Lekman song sums up some of my feelings towards birthdays. But, I think when it comes down to it, mostly I’m just super grateful for all the experiences I’ve been able to have in the past few years.. and I definitely wouldn’t trade them for anything. Birthdays for me are also usually a pretty family oriented time of the year and it’s a little weird being far from home and having to suffice with skype [better than nothing I suppose]. Today was pretty nice, was able to relax during the day,  went to my darkroom course and then had a nice home made sushi dinner.

Anyways, Paris was fabulous and I’ll share some new photos next week. Hope April is treating you well!

twenty four

I turned 24 today. Spent the morning making pancakes with blueberry sauce and tidying. The weather was gross so I couldn’t really go on a nice walk like I wanted to. Spent the afternoon catching up on TV shows, reading some magazines and waiting for my birthday parcel from Canada to arrive [it didn't, thanks Dutch customs office]. Spent the evening with some good friends stuffing our faces at all-you-can-eat Japanese food and discussing politics. It’s been kind of a weird birthday not being with my family for the first time, but Skype is a pretty decent substitute. I look kind of sad in this picture but it’s just because I was writing something [was really bored waiting for the non-existant delivery].

A side note: I can’t get over how amazing LCD Soundsystem’s last concert was. They’re pretty much all I’ve been listening to for the past few days. So sad to see them go..

My little sis turns 19 today! We have our share of sibling arguments but most of the time we make each other laugh and are great friends.

Happy birthday Moni! I’m so glad to be spending your 19th birthday with you in fabulous Paris!

PS – I got a few rolls of film developed the other day.. I’ll try and post some more soon

twenty three

Today I turned 23. I started this post early this afternoon while watching a Top Chef marathon on the Food Network [what a great present, how did they know??], but then I got distracted by family stuff and some delicious food. So to make it legit, I better finish up before midnight. Anyways, ever since I hit twenty birthdays have seemed weird for me. I know each year the number gets larger but I don’t feel any older. At least I don’t feel like I should be 23. It’s weird. And to think by the time I’m done grad school I’ll be 26 [possibly 25.5 if they give me a little bit of an advanced standing]. I guess it’s good [?] that people always assume I’m way younger than I am ["you're finished university??"]. Anyways, I’m rambling. More Seattle photos to come soon… hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!
