Again, it’s been forever.. haha. I decided just to crop the photos from Berlin instead of rescanning them since I wasn’t happy with the results last time I used the school’s scanner.. I think these look alright. But argh, now I’m so far behind with developing my photos.. I just got back from Venice just over a week ago and took lots there as well. Venice is truly amazing and I had a really great time! Will post more about it in the future but for now here are some pictures from Berlin back in July during a walk through Friedrichshain. I can’t wait to go back to that city.

It’s been forever since I’ve posted here.. but I’ve still be taking lots of photos.. I’m just terribly behind with sharing and developing them. I was going to make a post this morning when I realized all the photos that were scanned on to the last CD I got were cropped incorrectly so I think I’ll scan them myself before sharing them.. might be a few days though. Here’s a little teaser from my Berlin trip. Anyways, I’ve been back to Vancouver for a month to visit and work and now I’m back in NL on the job hunt. Hope the fall has been treating you well!

ich liebe berlin

 I was thinking about Berlin a bit the other day and was looking through my photos and found a few more I hadn’t posted yet. I feel like working there a bit after I graduate would bit a really awesome thing.. we’ll see what happens though haha. I’m really going to try and make the most of my last year in Delft.. and I’m kind of anxiously excited as to what might await me afterwards.

I have a bit of work to do this weekend but my mini holiday is coming up next week and I’m pretty excited! Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

 A random assortment of photos from Berlin. I’ve had a few really nice days since I’ve been back home in Vancouver. I spent some time with my mom and sis downtown the past two days which was super awesome. More things to look forward to this weekend too.. get together with good friends tonight, art show tomorrow night and my little sister’s birthday on Sunday! Happy Friday

 Just some photos I took inside the Kunsthaus. If you’re ever in Berlin I would definitely recommend it. They have some artists studios inside where you can buy prints, sculptures and all kinds of stuff…I ended up getting a couple of collage style prints and post cards. Anyway, it’s a really interesting building [as you can see I'm sure] : )

Well I made it home yesterday afternoon and I’m super relieved to be here. The days before I left were filled with last minute work, studying and lots of gatherings with friends. Today I’m taking it easy and definitely getting Japanese food for lunch. Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

 

 

how long is now

 Kunsthaus Tacheles is one of those things I had heard about/read things about for a long time and always wondered what it would actually be like to visit. So of course I made sure it was on my list while I was in Berlin. The building has a pretty interesting past and from what I can tell there’s still a lot of uncertainty about it’s future, hopefully it stays around for a while. It was kind of a weird place but also pretty amazing, I have more pictures from inside that I will share soon.

My summer back home is already shaping up.. a short trip to Seattle on the 24th, road trip to Oregon in late July/early August and a few camping adventures I’m sure.. I can’t wait.

 

 

 

 

late afternoon in berlin

 Still working through these Berlin photos but I’m getting there. These are from the second day [Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag + Holocaust Memorial]. For some reason now you have to make an appointment online if you want to go up into the dome of the Reichstag.. lame! I had no idea so we missed out on that one.. another time I suppose.

In exactly one week I will be at Schiphol airport.. waiting to head home to Vancouver!!

 Sunshine! A few random photos from around Berlin. I really love the Hackescher Markt S-Bahn station [photos 4 and 6]. I have a few more photos of it from the outside that I’ll post another time. Oh, and the last photo is one of my favourites from the trip. It was taken in the Hackesche Höfe, a grouping of connected courtyards with cute stores and cafes inside. Wouldn’t it be great to live in one of those apartments with that tree outside your window?

 Before I left for Berlin I asked my friend Dan [who had lived there for a few months] for some recommendations. One of his “musts” was the Mauerpark flea market on Sundays. We made sure to head there just after breakfast and it was definitely an experience. It’s huge [!!] and you can find almost anything there, from old cameras, to clothes, jewellery, furniture and even gas masks. It was a really cool mix between old and new.. I probably could have spent a lot but I resisted and settled for a cute pendant made from an illustration from an antique book. If you’re ever visiting Berlin, go! [but go early, it gets busy]

I found the last photo kind of sad in a way. One man had three boxes like that full of old black and white photos of people, places, families, portraits.. pretty much everything. It’s interesting to see where people’s memories end up… and although they were intriguing, it would have felt wrong to buy them.
