Happy Koninginnedag to all the Dutchies out there! These are some photos from Queen’s Day last year around Delft. Unfortunately with the P4 deadline looming I won’t get a chance to go to Amsterdam like I wanted.. but oh well. Plenty chance to celebrate once the presentation is finished..hopefully. Fijne Koninginnedag!

Winter is finally here in Holland.. the canals are mostly frozen and we got some snow just about a week ago. It’s been a refreshing change but the temperatures have been a bit too cold [hasn't been above 0 in a while]. Quite a bit of the snow has gone but I still don’t really trust myself to start biking again yet..
I went on a quick roadtrip into Luxembourg and Germany this past weekend with some friends which was super nice.. have some photos of that to share soon too.

Second half of my “year in review.” I’m back in Delft now after a pretty brutal day of flying, delays, turbulence and multiple landing attempts. Glad to be on the ground for a while. I love to travel but flying is not my favourite… was just reminded of that fact yesterday.
[1] made it back to Vancouver and spent a day downtown with my mom and sister [2] nothing beats driving on the Sea to Sky Highway after a great weekend camping [3] did a West Coast road trip with my family and stopped at Deception Pass [4] we spent a few days at Cannon Beach in Oregon, watching the fog roll in and out [5] and exploring the beach a bit [6] then it was off to Portland.. it was great, and pretty close to Vancouver.. will have to visit more often [7] my mom and I made a trip to Salt on my last full day in Vancouver [8] my sister came back to NL with me and we made a trip to London [9] back in NL we spent a day biking in the Hoge Veluwe Park and it was stunning [10] tired of lame/overpriced sushi in Delft we made our own [11] I went to Hong Kong with my studio and it was a sensory overload.. loved it! [12] on our last day we went to Tai O, a fishing village, which was an amazing contrast to the city.
Will share more photos from Tai O soon.. they turned out to be some of my favourite from the trip. Hope everyone is enjoying 2012 so far.

Looking back, I did a lot of things in 2011 and I think it was a pretty great year overall. I tried to find some photos that may not have made their way onto here yet to sum up the year.
[1] went to the beach on a cold and sunny January afternoon [2] early morning sky on a studio site visit in February [3+4] friends and food, sometime in early February [5] went to a small town in Niedersachsen, Germany [6] and visited an old house [7] made my first ever trip to London and toured the AA building [8] went for a yummy lunch at Koya in London [9] got to explore a cool old building [twice] for my building conservation course [10] spring came to NL and it was sunny and warm [11] experienced my first Queen’s Day [12] went to Berlin! it was one of the best trips and one of the last things I did before finishing up school and coming back to Vancouver for the summer…
More 2011 memories to follow. Happy 2012!

Since it’s my last day in Delft for a while, I felt it appropriate to share some photos I’ve taken here over the past months. The leaves on the trees in town have been replaced with Christmas lights now [festive photos will be up soon].
It feels good to know that I’ll be home in around 24 hours. Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season so far!

A few months ago I posted some other pictures from inside this building and I figured Halloween would be a good time to share the ones I took on my second visit. This old faculty building was one of the coolest [and creepiest!] places I’ve been in. Part of it is being used as an artists squat right now.. but I really have no idea what the plans are for the rest. It would be nice if they restored it.. it’s a really unique building.
I had a pretty fun Halloween weekend, although it isn’t really celebrated here. I went as Wednesday Addams on Friday and we had a “trashy” themed party on Saturday which was.. well.. pretty hilarious.
I have lots to do in the next day or so.. and I’m leaving for Hong Kong tomorrow night! Better get packing. Happy Halloween
